Join the AFWI for the Resilience Scale Masterclass: A free, three-hour, interactive workshop which introduces the Brain Story and Resilience Scale Framework to community leaders and professionals from the health, education, justice, and children’s services systems in order to build resilience and improve outcomes for individuals, families, and communities.

What to expect

Resilience can be defined as the ability to respond positively in the face of adversity. The Resilience Scale metaphor depicts how adversities, positive supports, and acquired skills and abilities interact to influence resilience and impact lifelong physical and mental health outcomes. It provides foundational knowledge and a common language that are accessible across populations and disciplines. The Resilience Scale can be used to clarify the roles of organizations that provide mental health interventions and services, improve referral pathways, and facilitate organizational change management. Alongside data from the Brain Story Certification Course, the Resilience Scale is explored as a framework for building community resilience and implementing systems change.

The Resilience Scale Masterclass sets out to answer the following three questions:

WHAT DO INDIVIDUALS NEED?

Explores the utility of the Resilience Scale as a tool to help individuals identify their needs and the types of services they require to strengthen their resilience.

WHAT DO ORGANIZATIONS DO?

Introduces the Frontiers of Innovation and Resilience Scale as a template for organizations to code programs and interventions, improve referral pathways, and facilitate organizational change management.

WHAT DOES THE SYSTEM HAVE?

Explores the Resilience Scale as a tool for building systems-level resilience using data from the Brain Story Certification Course.
